Haldia Development Authority was incorporated for the development of infrastructure across the city by the State Government of West Bengal under the West Bengal Town & Country Act of 1979. The main aim of the government was to promote Haldia as an industrial township ensuring integrated development of this Industrial Region in a planned manner. The excellent location of the city near the post of Haldia was the main factor beaind the formation of Haldia Development Authority, which earlier under the Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) administration. | |
With big business giants like Show Wallace, Hindustan Lever and Exide Industries as their clients Haldia Development Authority soon undertook two huge projects of Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd., and purified Terepthalic Acid (PTA) Plant of Mitsubishi Chemical Company Japan, which enhanced their growth and development.
