Asansol - Durgapur Development Authority was established in 1980, for undertaking development works of the cities, by West Bengal Government under the West Bengal Town & Country (Planning & Development) Act, 1979. The main responsibilities of Asansol - Durgapur Development Authority is to make and execute Land Use and Development Control Plan (LUDCP), to develop the areas under its jurisdiction on its own or through agencies, besides promoting residential and commercial areas along with industries. ADDA - Asansol Durgapur Development Authority also under takes development works like roadways, electricity, water and drainage & sewage infrastructure. Along with this, the Development Authority fulfills it Social responsibilities by constructing infrastructure to co-ordinate activities of various agencies and departments of the Government of West Bengal as well as local authorities.
