Reliance Industries Limited
Reliance Industries Limited is an Indian multinational company, headquartered in Mumbai, India. Reliance Group operates in virtually every business segment today, ranging from refining, petrochemicals, and oil, retail business, textile, special economic zone, telecom/broadband, down to electronics, footwear, apparels and accessories.
It is a publicly traded company and the largest one in India with respect to market capitalization. The company is listed on Forbes Global 2000 and Fortune Global 500 list.
In the year 2008, Reliance Group was featured in the world’s 100 most respected companies. It has also secured a good position in Top 250 GE Company Rankings at the moment.
The core business of the company is petrochemicals, oil and refining, but they’ve expanded across all horizons. Other segments that Reliance Industries Limited currently focuses on include retail business, textiles, telecommunications, retail business, special economic zone, and telecommunications.Company has recently entered into the food market with the launch of its Reliance Fresh stores, and even consumer electronics with Reliance Digital outlets opened all across the country.
Today, the Reliance Group boasts of well over 50 outlets of Reliance Digital in just Bangalore city, and the numbers are expected to shoot up to 100 pretty soon.
Major Associates and Subsidiaries
Reliance Life Sciences: It participates in industrial biotechnology, plant, and medical opportunities. These services are specifically related to pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, regenerative medicine, clinical research services, molecular medicine, plant biotechnology and novel therapeutics.
Reliance Institute of Life Sciences: The institute was established by the Dhirubhai Ambani foundation, and it is a great institution for pursuing higher education in different fields related to life sciences.
Reliance Logistics Limited is also known as the single window provider for distribution, transportation, logistics, warehousing and supply chain needs.
Reliance Clinical Research Services is completely owned by Reliance Life Sciences division. It provides clinical research services for medical, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical companies.
Reliance Industrial Infrastructure Limited
Reliance Industrial Infrastructure Limited was incorporated in the year 1988, with the main objective to build the cross-country pipelines for transportation of petroleum products. The pipeline connects the Bharat Petroleum refinery to the Reliance's petrochemical complex.
Pipeline also carries petroleum products that include kerosene and naptha. It also has commissioned facilities such as data acquisition system, supervisory control, and cathodic protection system.
Reliance Retail is the business wing of the Reliance Group. The retail brands include Reliance Footprint, Reliance Fresh, Reliance Timeout, Reliance Wellness, Reliance Autozone, Reliance Trendz, Reliance Mart, Reliance Super, Reliance Home Kitchens, Reliance iStore, and Reliance Jewels.
Most of these outlets are currently located in metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata, but they’re yet to hit the mass in the smaller cities of the nation.
Reliance Industry is the largest polyester yarn and fibre producer across the globe, and the company carries out high levels of recycling to deal with large amount of polyester wastes.

Reliance received the International Refiner award for the year 2005 at the Fuels Conference.
According to the Brand Finance survey carried out during the year 2010, Reliance Group had been voted as second most valuable brand in the country.
RIL - BP Partnership
Reliance Industries Limited entered into a partnership with BP on February 21, 2011, granting 30% stake to BP in twenty three oil & gas production sharing contracts of the Reliance Group.
Reliance Group Flourishing in Almost Every Sector
When Dhirubhai Ambani died, he left behind a massive empire of Rs. 94,000 crores, and his heirs have definitely done a great work in expanding the business, taking the company to newer heights. Currently, the annual revenues of the Reliance Group are perceived to be well over $58 billion USD, making it the largest private sector enterprise in the country.
The company has a proven record in terms of sustainability, no wonder their Jamnagar Manufacturing Division bagged the 'Golden Peacock Global Award for Sustainability” last year.
Each of their recent ventures have received awards and accolades during the year 2010; for instance, in the Leisure segment, Reliance TimeOut bagged the “Retailer of the Year Award” at the Asia Retail Congress, while its latest venture Reliance Trends also grabbed the award of “Retail Marketing Campaign of the Year”.
