The main activity/function of the Department is to guide the growth of the urban and rural hinterlands of Yanam Region in a planned manner by preparation of Development Plan and enforcement through the Yanam planning Authority as stipulated under the Town and Country Planning Act, 1969. The Department is also rendering advice to the Government and the local bodies on various locational decisions and the use of land for the planned growth of the region and for creation better living environment of the general public.
