To consider the points one by one, the Board wanted to meet housing demands that were raised throughout the state. The sole objective was to improve sheltering facilities for the well-being of people across the Orissa state.
The mission of the Board does not stop here. It continues in providing consultancy services as per the key-turn rules to the various other organisations pertinent to Management, Finance and Engineering. Besides, with the mission of “Houses for all”, the Board is striving hard to making the state free of slums and ensuring that everyone gets roof above his head. Besides, the board has also tried to take up large projects in the key areas to develop urbanization with great speed. However, the State Housing Board is not just with the mere mission of development but also maintaining an environmental balance for promoting the concept of Green House for a better environment in future.
HUDCO has been in the financial assistance of the housing projects initiated by the Board. Besides, the Board has been busy in the construction of apartments, duplexes and flats. A survey shows the record of development of almost 17,000 houses across the state. With this the survey also shows the constructions of several residential complexes in the urbanised city of Cuttack. However, the Board always keep a few things in mind when executing any project.
Its primary objective is housing facility and along with it the overall development of the neighbourhood with construction of hospitals, schools, shopping complexes and developments of parks. Therefore, the mission is to ensure that people who shift to these housing complexes get a compact taste of life through the many facilities within one area. The idea is based on small townships perched at various locations of the state.
There are several projects that have been initiated by the board. Some of them have been mentioned below:
- There is the Group A plan, under which the Board plans to cater housing facilities to all the Government employees residing in Sundargarh, Phulbani, Rayagada, Bhubaneshwar.
- The special housing schemes that have been initiated mainly in the rural areas with construction of homes under the project named as the most famous ‘kalinga Kutir’. These are special houses that will be equipped with all modern facilities to ensure that they are fire proof. The best part is that Rural Housing Development Corporation has initiated this project with the one claim in mind to make the people of Orissa stay fine in protected shelters.
- Many upcoming projects are on the radar to ensure the rehabilitation of slum dwellers so that they find nice shelters for themselves for s proper living.
- The idea for so many schemes is to ensure that people stay fine in their homes and they feel nicely protected under their roof.

- Commercial Complex in Housing Colony of Choudwar
- Apartments at the famous Saheed Nagar in Bhubaneshwar
- Shopping Complexes at the location of Aiginia in Bhubaneshwar
- Birsa Munda Housing Colony in the place of Roukela

The Financial Structure of the Board
Coming to the financial structure of the Board, there are three sections to the departments, one is Account Bill section, another is Accounts Compilation section and the third is Accounts Refund and Confirmation section. There are two kinds of functions bestowed on the Accounts wing and these include taking care of accounts and finance. The best part is that the financial and accounting responsibilities are accomplished with the help of accounting software known as “Tally”.
