MCD Municipal Corporation of Delhi formed in 1958 under a certain Parliamentary act. Being the capital of the country the city has important administrative departments, which caters to population of 13.78 million people. Such a large population has their own growing needs and demands, which cannot be solved by a single agency. The corporation is involved in community development programs, which include constructing health centers, schools and other services of public importance in the urban as well as rural areas. It also works for the betterment of slums and squatter localities. The department functions separately from the state government so that it becomes easy for people to avail the facilities of every department depending upon their requirements. For their convenience, the Delhi Municipal Corporation/Nagar Nigam has divided the city into twelve different zones and their offices are located in every specific zone. |
