IDBI or the Industrial Development Bank of India was set up in 1964 as a subsidiary of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The government shareholding in IDBI is around 57% at present. In 2004, IDBI Bank and IDBI Limited were merged to form IDBI - a Universal Bank.
