Affordable housing projects are brought out in order to make the process of acquiring a low cost house or a low budget apartment simple. First such project is undertaken by the National building Construction Company in Delhi and NCR. Its residential project is likely to be constructed near Chattarpur Mandir, Mehrauli. The NBCC acts like a non profit organization as it claims of not following the foot steps of other private sector enterprises. It focuses on providing affordable houses to all the sections of the society and earning profit becomes its second motive. They aim at selling property at cheaper rates unlike the private builders.
The NBCC has also procured land in the NCR regions namely, Noida and Gurgaon. The houses in Delhi will cost somewhere between Rs 20 to Rs 40 lakhs. Though their main priority is to provide good quality apartments at affordable rates, but the cost will also depend on other factors like the area, cost of land, square feet, availability of parking and so on. They will give out a variety of options to the buyer. The buyer can then choose which kind of apartment or flat to opt for his or her family.
Such affordable housing projects are indeed useful to the masses. Majority of people fall into the middle level income group and find it difficult to own a house because of ever increasing house rates. But such schemes are designed to cater such people thus fulfilling their dreams of owning a house. The government should encourage affordable housing projects undertaken by different companies and give it full publicity. This would indeed be a boon to the housing sector as well as to all the prospective buyers.
